Post listening activities

Post listening activities are just as important as pre-listening and listening activities. Conduct post listening activities so students can clarify their understanding, ask pertinent questions, reflect on what they just heard, and learn more about the subject.

During post listening activities, students can:

  • Answer questions.
  • Apply information to a new situation.
  • Debate the issues.
  • Discuss the listening passage and have students relate it to their lives.
  • Fill out a graphic organizer.
  • Fill out a learning log.
  • Identify supporting details to back up an opinion.
  • Summarize the passage in Spanish or in English.
  • Identify bias.
  • Identify fallacies of arguments.
  • Identify the main idea.
  • Illustrate what they heard.
  • Listen to a song pertaining to the topic.
  • Listen to or read a related story.
  • Perform a skit pertaining to the topic.
  • Point out ways in which the speaker is trying to influence or convince the listener.
  • Read a newspaper or magazine article on the same topic.
  • Read a transcript and listen to passage again.
  • Research the topic in the library or online.
  • Review their KWL chart fill in what they learned.
  • Review their notes and add new information.
  • Tell meaning of key words.
  • Watch a video clip.
