The following are general teaching links that I find myself using all the time.  I don't like link farms so I am including a few "gems" that hopefully you will find useful.  If you know of any websites you think I should include here, feel free to contact me

La Real Academia Española - This is the official website of the Real Academia Española and is a great reference for the Spanish language.

Word Reference - This is my favorite language reference resource.  It contains a dictionary with lots of examples and a forum where you can ask questions pertaining to language.

ACTFL - This is the official website of the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages.

Sailing with the 5 C's Learning Strategies - This is a great resource guide for secondary foreign language teachers!  There is also a printer-friendly version which is a .pdf.

Standards for Foreign Language Learning - This .pdf article describes the National Standards.

If you do not have Adobe's Acrobat Reader, you may download it by clicking the following link:

Teaching Foreign Languages K-12: A Library of Classroom Practices - This is a video library of effective foreign language instruction. The time it takes to view these videos is well worth it!

Language Study and the Brain - If you are interested in brain-compatible learning activities you will find a wealth of information here.  I especially like the brain-based learning presentation, the multiple intelligence activity ideas, and the research sections.  There is also a concise overview of various teaching methods.

Yahoo Kids Around the World - This site has a lot of information about countries, holidays, culture, languages, flags, folklore, etc.  You can use this for your own research or as a resource for your students.

Yahoo Education Flags from Around the World - You will find flags for every country.  After you click on a flag, you can click on the name of the country and access information about that country.

Clip-art for Foreign Language teachers -  This site contains free clip art for foreign language instruction.  I have used clip art from this site many times.  There is a large collection but no large that it is overwhelming.

UVic's Language Teaching Clip art Gallery - This website has over 3,000 images that you can use for basic language vocabulary.  The clip art is free.

Microsoft Clip art - This is by far my favorite source for clip art.  It includes clip art, photos and sounds and it is all free!.

Discovery Education's Online Puzzle Maker - You can make puzzles for free online. (Move to puzzles in listening)

Stephen D. Krashen - Krashen's website includes information on language acquisition, literacy, and bilingual education.

TPR World - TPR World has some very informative articles on foreign language learning, TPR, TPR Storytelling, Brain-based research, self-improvement for language teachers, and research topics for graduate students.
