DISCUSS THIS ARTICLE

I love incorporating card activities in my class.  It is so visual and I can instantly check students’ comprehension of the material.  Students can actively practice vocabulary words, pictures, numbers, and grammar.  Show pictures of cards and tell how to make them and laminate them and how to organize and store them.

Flash Card Activities

    Flash Card Game
    1. Divide students into two teams.
    2. Call out a definition or a description in Spanish.
    3. A student from each team looks in their pile of cards for the correct card.
    4. The first student to find the correct card wins a point for the team.
Flash Cards with Numbers or Words
    1. Give students a stack of flash cards with a vocabulary word on each one.
    2. Students place them on their desks so they can see all cards.
    3. Say the definition in Spanish, the English translation, a description, or a sentence with a blank.
    4. Students respond by holding up the card with the correct word.
    Example:

Es una tienda dónde se venden libros y materiales escolares. librería
It’s a store where there sell books and school supplies.

    2. Call out a word or phrase in Spanish.
    3. Students hold up the corresponding card.

    2. Read a sentence except for the grammar structure.
    3. Students hold up the card with the correct grammar.
    4. Discuss the reason for using a particular structure.
    5. You can do this activity with:
      • ser versus estar
